The baton will be welcomed into Duntocher, the first stage of its journey in the area, by West Dunbartonshire Provost Douglas McAllister at 7.30am on Friday morning.

It will then make its way to Faifley, Hardgate and Whitecrook where it will visit St Margaret’s Hospice before making its way to Clydebank’s Titan Crane at 9.10am.

After being taken on an abseil down the landmark, baton bearers will run out to Clydebank Town Hall where a tea dance is taking place.

Travelling on to the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, the baton will be carried through the wards by a heart patient.

The relay will make its way through Dalmuir, with a community day held in the park from noon to 3pm to coincide with the relay.

Reaching Old Kilpatrick at 12.15pm, the relay will continue into Bowling and be held by a baton bearer on a bike along the cycle track at Milton onto Dumbarton East where it will be carried by a renowned climber up Dumbarton Castle.

The baton will travel through Dumbarton High Street, before it makes its way to Renton and Alexandria attending an event at the Vale’s new health centre.

The journey will continue to Balloch where the baton will visit the Junior Highland Games at 3.30pm.

Baton bearers will depart for Loch Lomond Shores with the baton set to sail on a Super Eight across the loch. On disembarking, the baton will travel to children’s hospice Robin House.

Baton bearers will run through Jamestown and Bonhill before the baton is taken to Drumry for the final leg of its West Dunbartonshire journey. The baton will be carried on to a barge at the Forth and Clyde Canal in Clydebank and will sail into Three Queen Square held by silver medal winning Commonwealth athlete Chris Baillie.

Celebrations in Three Queen’s Square will begin at 5pm with the baton expected to arrive at 6.45pm.
