Louise Walker, 55, won the flora category of the recent summer contest, run by Loch Lomond Shores in conjunction with the RSPB.

Her photograph Bog Cotton was a favourite with the judges with its detail and striking colour.

The photo was taken only recently on a walk up Beinn Dubh with her husband.

Louise, an assistant starter at Loch Lomond Golf Club, said : “I can’t believe I have won as it’s only the second competition I have entered.

“I would like to dedicate the photo to my late father in law Peter Walker as I used his technique to capture the photograph without the need for any post editing.” It was picked from hundreds of entries to the competition which attracted interest from as far afield as Belgium and India.

Louise Greenhorn, a professional wildlife photographer and one of the judges, added: “Louise’s photo is so simple yet incredibly striking with great composure and lovely sharp details.

“She has framed it perfectly with the bright bold colours of the sky really drawing your eye to the bog cotton”.

The other winners of the competition were Sian Sharp in the landscape category, Helen Smith in the wildlife category and John Crawford for best overall image.

Visitors to Loch Lomond Shores can view the winning images in an exhibition in the mall.
