The work will be carried out in two stages in Clynder and Cove after current work in Garelochhead is finished, a council spokesman confirmed.

The work is scheduled to start on the approach to Clynder on the B833 on Monday, October 13 and is estimated to take 10 days, finishing on October 24.

Work will then begin in Cove on Monday, October 27 and finish five days later on October 31.

No roads will be closed during the work but a single-file traffic management system will be in place, similar to what is happening in Garelochhead on the B872.

The works are part of the £1 million capital investment in the Helensburgh and Lomond road network which was announced earlier this year.

A spokesman for Argyll and Bute council told the Advertiser: “The overlay work to the B833 will be undertaken in two stages.

“These dates are indicative and subject to completion of the current job on the B872 Garelochhead. These works are part of almost £1million of capital investment in the Helensburgh and Lomond road network. The work will not require road closures; we will be operating a single-file traffic management arrangement, as we are currently doing on the B872 Garelochhead. The council tries to avoid road closures as far as possible.” Councillor George Freeman, of Lomond North ward, is pleased with the investment on the peninsula but there needs to be more. He added: “At a time when we see funding for Argyll and Bute Council continuing to be cut, it is good to see investment in the roads in my Lomond North ward. “Although this work is welcome and will help to address specific problems on the B833 Lochside road, much more investment is required to bring the road up to an acceptable standard. “Like all councillors, I will continue to argue for a share of the limited funds that are available to improve our local roads.”
