PC Andrew Crawford, community policing officer, and Rosemary Scott, from the Co-operative Funeralcare, visited pupils at the West King Street school on Monday morning to hand out more than 90 reflective badges.

Douglas McKay, manager of the Co-operative Funeralcare, said: “We are helping to raise awareness of the importance of road safety by providing the reflective stickers and helping children be seen.

“With the clocks about to go back, darker morning and evening mean youngsters need to take even more care on their way to and from school.” The yellow high visibility reflective pin-badges were given to youngsters aged between five and eight following a presentation from PC Crawford. He told the Advertiser: “This was an excellent opportunity to reinforce our road safety message, the nights are drawing in, the clocks will be changing soon and it will be darker when our kids are travelling to and from school.

“These reflective badges will assist the pupils in being seen by motorists. I am delighted that a local business has decided to get on board and help keep communities safe.”
