Stephen Newall, 26, founded getting-in.com two years ago to enable students to gather relevant, comprehensive information about universities and apprenticeships.

The former Lomond School pupil said: “As a school leaver I found it very hard to make decisions about my future with so much information scattered over thousands of websites. So I put to use my interest in business and web design and instead of going to university, and I formed getting-in.com.

“Whether a student wants to go to university or not, I created Getting-in to ensure that young people are able to gather relevant information in one place.

“The site has comprehensive information about all UK universities and their courses. Students can search for information tailored to suit their specific needs, as well as find out about open days and order prospectuses easily.” Stephen’s site is also affiliated with a number of high profile companies who list between 10,000-15,000 apprenticeship opportunities each month.

He added: “This means young people have access to many more options than they have done previously. The main point of this site is to ensure that other students won’t feel as lost or confused about the process of leaving school and making important decisions about their future, like I did.

“At this time of the year, many students are getting ready to apply to university or are at least looking at their options for the future.” Students are able to search for information by location, region, course type and can even input their predicted A-level results, to help them narrow down the information regarding institutions and courses to ensure they receive relevant search results.
