The resurfacing improvements are being undertaken on behalf of Transport Scotland and are scheduled to begin from Sunday, April 26 for one week.

One overnight set of works will initially take place on Sunday, April 26 between 7pm-7am.

The rest of the works are expected to be completed between Monday, April 27 and Friday, May 1, between 7am-7pm.

During the improvements, temporary traffic lights and a convoy system operating under a 10mph speed restriction will be in place for the safety of the workforce and members of the public.

A 30mph speed limit will be in place out with working hours to ensure vehicles can pass safely over the temporary surface.

During the works, on street parking will be restricted for the safety of the workforce and members of the public. BEAR Scotland has liaised with the local Community Council in advance of the works with the aim to reduce impact on local businesses.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit Representative, told the Advertiser that temporary traffic signals would be in place, and it is hoped by improving the condition of the road that it will operate safely for years to come.

He said: “The resurfacing works will improve the condition of this busy road ensuring that it continues to operate safely for years to come.

“Temporary traffic signals will be in place during the works and road users are encouraged to comply with the 10mph speed restriction which will be enforced by a convoy system for their own safety as well as those of our teams.

“We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date information, and allow some extra time for travel.” Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @trafficscotland.
