It’s part of the work the Act does encouraging local people to enjoy the outdoors.

The charity strives to come up with interesting ways to motivate the public to take ownership of the coast and countryside of Argyll and the Isles.

Julie Young, development officer for Act, told the Advertiser: “The money is to be spent on making a positive difference to a place people love in Argyll.

“Whether it’s to arrange a litter pick, repair a bench or provide a bird table – we don’t mind as long as it enhances the area. “We will be awarding twenty prizes of up to £100 to the people who give us the best suggestions and we’re really looking forward to hearing what people come up with.” Food from Argyll is providing a picnic hamper filled with local produce from businesses in Argyll and the Isles to anybody who wins.

They’ll also be providing plenty of picnic tips via online channels including the best spots to visit and the best local food treats to enjoy along the way. Katie Ritchie, of Food from Argyll, said: “We were really keen to get involved in this project – not only is it such a positive cause but it also supports our main aim which is to encourage local people to enjoy local produce.” The perfect picnic will run throughout the months of June, July and August.
