Councillors backed a motion on Thursday, June 25, from Mid Argyll members Dougie Philand and Sandy Taylor to amend the authority’s policy so that the flag of Scotland be flown on council flag poles on all days other than those already laid down for the flying of the Union Jack and the council flag.
At last month’s full council meeting, a petition was submitted requesting the change. The flag flying policy sets out which flags are to be flown, from which flag staffs, or poles, on which days.
This previously included the Saltire on six days per year, and the council flag on the day of a council meeting.
