It will consist of architectural plans and perspectives drawn up by Mr Mackintosh for his client Walter Blackie.

The exhibition will run from Thursday, October 1 to Saturday, October 31 and will be part of the annual Mackintosh Festival.

During the exhibition, there will be an opportunity for young artists to enter a competition to draw and colour something that they have seen at The Hill House.

Every entrant will receive an activity kit and can enter the competition to win a prize, in conjunction with The Toy Shop in Helensburgh.

Walter Blackie’s family firm, Blackie and Son, was a well- known book publisher in Glasgow. Walter Blackie had been most impressed when he saw the Glasgow School of Art building which Mackintosh had designed. Mr Blackie was then introduced to the architect by another artist, Talwin Morris who worked as Head of Art for Blackie and Son.

He decided to commission Mackintosh to design a new house for his wife and children, away from the city, in the growing town of Helensburgh where they could indulge in outdoor interests such as walking, cycling and sailing.

The Hill House is open seven days-a-week throughout October, from 11.30am or noon until 5pm.

The exhibition will also be the final opportunity to see the famous Mackintosh writing desk and chair designed for Mrs Blackie, before they are returned to the Glasgow Kelvingrove Museum for next season. The Hill House closes for the winter on Saturday, October 31.
