Reports on more mystery lights spark UFO theories

More ufo sightings have been reported in the sky over Helensburgh.

Jo Hall from Rhu reports seeing two orange/red lights behind the clouds when she took her dog for a walk.

She told the Advertiser: 'It was either Tuesday or Wednesday evening of last week. I can"t remember exactly which day it was but the weather was very windy. I sensed something above me to the right. As I looked up, I saw two orange/red lights travelling from right to left behind the clouds. The clouds were travelling at a speedy rate from left to right and the lights then disappeared from view.

'Apart from the noise of the wind I heard nothing else.

'I"m curious how many other readers had the same experience. I must admit that I felt that it was a "strange" occurrence at the time but put it down to an over-active imagination and thought it was probably torch lights or headlights somewhere or even a military operation.'

In last week"s Advertiser graphic designer Lewis Graham told how he saw a fiery red object in the sky and thought it was a plane about to crash.

He said: 'It was silent and appeared to have a single red light at the rear.

'It remained stationary over what I reckon was Cardross then got dimmer and vanished.'

Through the Advertiser he asked if anyone else had seen the object.

Helensburgh businesswoman Melanie Andrews, who runs the Craigard restaurant in Sinclair Street, responded by saying that she and her husband had seen the suspected UFO and had been talking about it ever since.

She told the Advertiser: 'It was too fast for a plane or a bird and I thought it might have been a shooting star.'

One theory, however, is that the mysterious light were Chinese lanterns set off to celebrate birthdays.
