Organisers of Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games are celebrating after they landed a cash windfall, set to help make this year"s event a resounding success.
The team have secured Lottery funding to support the Homecoming year event.
Bosses at the Big Lottery Awards for All fund handed over a grant of £8,750 to boost the games.
Organisers also have additional fundraising events in the pipeline to pump extra cash into the flagship bash.
Games chairman Sephton MacQuire, told the Advertiser the event will definitely go ahead despite speculation to the contrary.
He said: 'The Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games Committee are delighted to receive support from the Big Lottery, Awards for All.
'There have been many difficult obstacles that the committee has had to overcome through the year, rumours were rife and we were asked many times if the games were still going ahead. We as a committee were always determined that the games would happen.'
Mr MacQuire added: 'We have been supported throughout by very kind and sympathetic donors from the town and also our sponsors. At a recent bag pack event at the Co-op, folk were fantastic in putting their hands in their purses or pockets.
'I cannot thank the committee enough for the dedication and team work that has taken place in bringing it all together. In this time of financial restraints, it has been no easy task.'
A 60s and 70s disco will take place at Colgrain Bowling Club on May 23 to raise funds, with committee member Darrel Hendrie spinning the decks as the DJ for the evening. Prizes including a signed Rangers football will be up for grabs in the raffle and fancy dress is optional. Tickets, priced at #3 are availble from Melanie at Craigard on Sinclair Street.
