HELENSBURGH Amateur Swimming Club held its first backstroke age group championships of the season with a great turnout from the swimmers.

Sadly this will be the only club competition to be held at the pool this year but this did not dampen the spirits of the swimmers who took part. There was some excellent swimming with a number of very close finishes throughout the night, which kept everyone entertained.

There were 23 personal bests recorded and 16 new times. The winner of the Nigel Atkinson trophy was Anna Beattie for her effort in training throughout the last few months.

The club would like to thank all the parents who helped out on the night and all the family and friends who came along to help support the swimmers. Here are the full results from the championships
