COLQUHOUN Square is set to be transformed into a magical Christmas treasure trove at the end of the month.

Plans have been laid for the Helensburgh Christmas lights switch-on, which is due to take place on Sunday November 29.

The day-long extravaganza kicks off at 10am, as the market stalls open to the public, with a full programme of entertainment from noon.

The organisation of the event was last week placed in the hands of the Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games Committee by Argyll and Bute Council, and member Melanie Andrews has since taken on the task of pulling it all together.

So far a number of attractions have been confirmed, including a juggler, magician, zoo performer and a unique seven-seater cosy-bike.
