AN empty shop is to be the centre of a new dementia service for the people of Helensburgh and Lomond.

The premises, previously occupied by The Gathering, on East Clyde Street, Helensburgh is to be a new resource centre - a base for the area's newly appointed Dementia advisor.

Helensburgh mum, Victoria MacLeod, will be joined by development worker Jean Armitage and a team of volunteers who will man the shop.

Victoria said: "This is a new role and it aims to support dementia sufferers and their families and also to raise awareness and understanding in the community."
