THE mystery of a ruined settlement high in the hills above Arrochar may soon be uncovered.
Excavation of the ruins of High Morelaggan is set to begin this week with help from Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
The park's Natural Heritage Grant Scheme has awarded the project over £12,000 which will allow local volunteers, together with professional archaeologists from Kilmartin House Museum, to determine the layout of the settlement and construction of the existing ruined buildings.
The dig also hopes to uncover evidence of earlier phases of occupation and development.
Volunteers researched the history of the site and carried out a preliminary survey with the support of Scotland 's Rural Past project.
