A BUNCH of bare faced cheeky chappies got together in a Helensburgh pub last week and got their kit off ... but it was all in a good cause.

Twelve brave guys from among the regulars at Helensburgh's Ashton Bar were talked into getting naked for a special calendar to raise funds for the Smiles for Life Campaign.

And on Thursday they all took their turn in front of the camera with the modesty protected by only a range of props.

Cameraman Chris Swallow was delegated the task of taking the photos and of coming up with compositions that bared all without baring all!

The 12 good men and true, so to speak, were from the back clockwise, George Milne, Jim McMurdo, Bobby Jack, Jim Schultz, Mark McKechnie, Chris McVey, Kenny Rowatt and mine host Euan Catterson, two of the "volunteers" had escaped before Advertiser photographer Petra Boyce arrived. They were Tommy Francis and Davey Hyslop.

Preserving Tommy's modesty was June McMurdo a leading member of the Smiles for Life team and barmaid at the Ashton.

Volunteer Jim Schultz said: "I have been helping June and Tommy for a while and when they asked me if I would be interested in joining in on the calendar I just thought if it is for the kids then why not?

"Its something different that you would not normally expect to do but if it is going to help a good cause and make life a bit better for these children, some of whom may not even see Christmas then it has got to be worth doing."

The completed calendar will be on sale soon and the brave souls who grinned and bared it are hoping that they will prove a popular Christmas present!
