A HELENSBURGH dad who fell in the snow and suffered a serious head injury is recovering in hospital.
The man, whose family wish him to be unnamed, was on a night out with a friend when he slipped in snow.
He was knocked unconscious but when he came round he felt all right and continued his night out.
It was not until the next day that he felt unwell and went to the Vale of Leven Hospital. In turn, he was sent to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and kept in for observation before being allowed to go home for Christmas.
However, once the festivities were over, he still felt unwell and again attended hospital and, at that point, was rushed to the Southern General and underwent an operation to remove a blood clot on his brain.
A second operation followed and he was in the high dependency unit for several days before being transferred back to a normal ward.
It is now hoped that he will be transferred to the Vale of Leven Hospital in the near future for rehabilitation care.
A spokesman for the Southern General said this week that his condition was "stable".
A Clynder woman also suffered injury in the snow. She was taking her dog for a walk on the beach and slipped on some icy steps.
She fell and broke her arm in two places. She, too, is recovering from her injury.
In Helensburgh, a woman fell on ice and broke her ankle. She was helped by a passing motorist who spotted her predicament.
