THINKING Day is always an important date on the calendar for anyone involved in girlguiding - but this year is set to be an extra special one.
For this year marks 100 years of girlguiding and celebrations are being held on February 22 to mark the occasion.
Linda Summers, Division Commissioner said: "As this is Girlguiding Centenary year we would like to invite anyone who has been involved in Guiding over the years, whether as a Brownie, a Guide, a Leader or a parent to Thinking Day.
"It is celebrated each year on February 22 as this was the birthday of both Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, our Founders.
"This year we are holding a service in St Columba Church on Sunday February 22 at 2.30pm.
"After the service there will be refreshments served in the hall where we will have displays of photographs of Guiding in Helensburgh through the years.
"There will also be uniforms, books and badges as well as other items which should bring back memories to those who were members in the past."
Beverley Clarke kindly supplied these photographs to the Advertiser, which will be on show at the display along with many more!
Those involved in guiding have been spreading the word about this special year and visits have been taking place to tell members of the community about the work of girlguiding volunteers.
Local guider Sheena Edwards visited the Cove and Kilcreggan SWRI at the beginning of the month to give a talk on the last 100 years of guiding and kept audience members captivated with a history of the groups.
It was revealed at the meeting that a display of Guiding memorabilia is also expected to be on show at the Craigrownie Parish Church on Thinking Day.
