Parklands petition is launched

SCORES of petitions to 'Save Parklands School' have gone on display at locations across the area.

More than 30 shops in Helensburgh alone have agreed to help the cause by taking copies of the petitions and displaying them in store for customers to sign in a bid to save the threatened special school, which could close if Argyll and Bute council vote against keeping it open in April.

The petitions have been organised, printed and distributed by parents and friends desperate to see the school remain open.

Julie Ward, chairman of the parent council, spoke to the Advertiser.

She said: "I think the people of Helensburgh are disgusted by the very thought that Parklands could close.
