KILCREGGAN'S little Post Office was packed for a special ceremony recently.
Around 20 people managed to cram themselves into the building to say a fond farewell to their postman Stephen Parfitt.
Stephen, left his Kilcreggan round to move to a small town near Lytham St Annes, where he took up a new round on Monday morning, in Blackpool.
While there, he plans to pursue his hobby of Salsa dancing among the experts at the historic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Although the news of his departure came very shortly before he actually moved, a collection for Stephen, a village man whose home was in Cove, still amassed £255 which was presented to him at the end of his round on Thursday morning.
Making the presentation was Nick Davies, chairman of the Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council, who gave an amusing tribute to the popular postie, who has trod the village streets with the mail for around 22 years.
Mrs Carol Ludford had made a very special personalised card featuring a miniature postcard of Blackpool being posted in a pillar box and also featuring a small dog carrying an open envelope containing an invitation to a dance.
Part of the card included paint tubes and brushes to signify Stephen's other hobby, painting.
A talented artist Stephen, who grew up in Cove and Kikcreggan and was in the village Scout group as a boy, has from time to time turned his talents to giving Tut Tut - Kilcreggan's famous painted rock - a facelift.
Kilcreggan Postmistress Janet Tidswell said: "We shall miss him very much.
"I remember him as a 17-year-old helping out at the village summer play when he ran the table tennis competition."
