A TEENAGE singer from Helensburgh is through the final of the first national talent competition held by Haven Holidays in 10 years.
Kelly Scott beat off strong competition - including from her younger sister Jade, 15 - with her rendition of 'Use Somebody' by Pixie Lott to win a round of the contest held at Haven Holidays' Craig Tara Holiday Park on the Ayrshire coast.
And talent runs in the family because in a remarkable twist Kelly's cousin is 14-year-old Steven Thomson, who wowed judges on Channel Five talent show Don't Stop Believing
As part of her prize, the 18-year-old won a holiday at Primrose Valley Holiday Park near Scarborough and now goes through to the grand final of Haven's Got Talent Summer Special, which will be held at the park in October.
Kelly, who starts at Glasgow's Calaedonian University this Autumn studying psychology, was on a week's holiday at Craig Tara with her mum Lorraine and sister when the girls decided to enter.
After making it through auditions process, judged by Haven's entertainment team, Kelly and Jade had to sing in front of hundreds of holidaymakers as part of the main entertainment programme of the evening.
The former Hermitage Academy pupil, who lives in Ardencaple, said: "I was scared as it is a big venue but my mum said give it a go - I couldn't believe it when I won.
"I only had half-an-hour to sort our my music, but luckily I had a karaoke album on my iPod so I used that."
Kelly added: "It was the best holiday ever.
"I would like to get into singing but I'm going to concentrate on getting my degree first."
A keen singer, Kelly loves music in general and for the past two years has been attending the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow for bass trombone classes.
The special talent contests for children aged 12 and over are being held at 10 Haven holiday parks across the UK during school holidays.
As well as a free holiday to Scarborough, the winners will face celebrity judging panel at the grand finals.
Run in association with Coca Cola with a top prize of £1,000 up for grabs in the final, the competitions are being held every week and are open to youngsters who can sing, dance, play a musical instrument or make the panel of judges laugh.
Haven was inspired to run its talent competition again following the success of TV programme such as Britain's Got Talent and the X Factor, which have uncovered many amazing performers.
