AN RAF veteran - who is confined to a wheelchair - is looking forward to taking part in a half-marathon to raise funds for the charity which helped her.
Inspirational Joanna Martin has not let her disability stop her from competing in the Great North Run in Merseyside on September 19.
The 48-year-old is raising vital money for veterans' charity Erskine, and she lived at the Bishopton home for two years after sustaining a spinal injury during pre-deployment training.
On Friday she visited the home to meet her old friends and launch her fundraising venture.
Joanna, of Helensburgh, is now training hard and is delighted to give something back to the charity which helped her so much.
She said: "Without Erskine I hate to think where I might have ended up.
"They cared for me very well."
