AN Arrochar boy, who wanted to raise funds for toys and life changing treatment at a children's hospital, raised more than £1,000 over the weekend.
Nine-year-old Kyle Mayer organised a coffee morning by himself in a bid to raise cash for Yorkhill Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
The caring youngster, who suffers from mild spina bifida, held the event on Saturday in the packed Three Villages Hall in Arrochar and was stunned to raise such a huge amount of cash. Mum Laura says Kyle is delighted to have raised so much money.
She said: "We raised over £1,000 and money is still coming in which is absolutely fantastic.
"It was very busy and lovely to see so many people there. Kyle is chuffed to bits. He said he would be happy to raise £500, so to double that is great.
"We would like to say thanks to everyone who came along.
Last week, the Advertiser told how Kyle, who has debilitating bladder problems caused by the condition, as well as leg and foot deformities, was inspired to organise a fundraiser after becoming upset at the amount of toys stolen from the hospital.
He visits the hospital frequently and also hopes some of the money will help the hospital afford special treatment which could help him.
Many people came along to the event and baked cakes and other sweet treats for people to enjoy a cuppa with.
Arrochar-based Loch Long Crafts also supported the event and held a ceramic experience stall which gave children the chance to paint their own ceramic sculptures.
