UP AND AWAY: The balloons are released on Thursday.
A balloon launched in Helensburgh turned up in Sweden - one day later.
The balloon was one of 75 released on Thursday by pupils at John Logie Baird Primary School. And they were astonished to learn on Friday that one had travelled 1,500 miles to Scandinavia.
The 75 balloons represented the number of years since John Logie Baird invented television.
Each was fitted with a contact card for the school and an explanation that this was part of the pupils' celebrations in honour of Helensburgh's famous inventor.
Teachers did not think the balloons would travel very far, and would simply be picked up by people in the immediate area.
However, one balloon made the mammoth journey to a small town in Karlstad in Sweden and was discovered on Friday by six-year-old Limuf Ekroth and his friend Theo.
The boys' school then emailed JLB primary with news of the remarkable find.
