A FITNESS instructor could be the next face of a leading UK sport fashion retailer after being whittled down from 10,000 hopefuls.
Liam Conroy, who instructs at Helensburgh Swimming Pool, could be the new face of JD Sports and is set to travel down to Manchester in a bid to compete for the title against 39 others.
This year is so far turning out to be a big one for the 26-year-old, who is also a television extra and model, as he aims for his ultimate dream of being a TV presenter.
Liam, who is dad to two-year-old son Shiloh, is excited about the year ahead and says winning the JD Sports advertising campaign would be a "life-changing opportunity", which would advance his career.
Liam had not even thought about modelling until he was scouted by the director of agency Magestic Models at a wedding last year.
He said: "I've done fashion catwalks and Edinburgh Fashion Show.
"I saw an advertisement to be the face of JD Sports and all I had to do was upload a photograph of myself and hope that people voted for me. That was whittled down from 10,000 people and now I'm in the last 40.
"I'll be going to a curtain call in Manchester where they will be searching for the right type of person to be the face of the company.
If I'm successful, it will be a life-changing opportunity because it's a year-long contract with one of the biggest sports fashion companies in Britain."
The busy Helensburgh dad is also signed up to a casting agency and travels regularly for television extra work. Last week, he found out he will be going for a test shoot for popular reality show The Only Way is Essex.
Liam has professional qualifications in health, fitness and personal training, and says what began as a hobby could one day turn into a big career.
He continued: "My work have been great as I travel around a lot for castings. Everything started up a couple of months ago so it's just getting going so I hope 2012 is going to be a good year. I've started pushing more towards what I want to do.
"I'm really excited for the future. Before it was a hobby and this time last year I was living a normal life and milling along and now everything is pushing into a possibly big career if I play my cards right."
