House raider flees with owner's BMW
Police in appeal for information
A thief who broke into a Helensburgh home fled the scene using the owner's BMW.
Smashing a panel on the back door, the crook forced his way into the property on Lawrence Avenue while the owner was at work.
The man returned home on Saturday morning to find his door had been broken and his window unlocked. The thief had entered his home, taking a platinum wedding ring worth £1,200 and an antique coin holder containing two sovereign gold coins.
The crook is then thought to have taken the key for the owner's black saloon BMW which was parked outside.
Crime scene investigation officers are waiting on forensic results from the property, but police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area between 6.30pm on Friday and 7.10am on Saturday to contact them.
Sergeant Steven Honeyman said: "We are also looking to trace the stolen vehicle, registration number N899 HGJ. If anyone has any information please contact us."
Helensburgh Police can be contacted by calling 01436 633600 or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
