Celebration for Victoria Hall anniversary
Helensburgh has a lot to celebrate this year as the town marks another milestone.
The Victoria Hall, which is commonly used for meetings, performances and exhibitions, has been serving the Helensburgh community for 125 years.
Opened in 1887 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria on April 25, the Friends of Victoria Hall will be organising a special event to mark the grand anniversary, by laying a memorial stone.
Councillor Vivien Dance, one of the group's directors said: "There will be lots of activities arranged in the hall drawing together users of the hall and community groups as we celebrate 125 years of this building being at the heart of the community and a focal point in the town."
On June 3 the Friends will be hosting the Big Jubilee lunch to join in with the celebrations to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and on the evening of the June 4 the group will be lighting a beacon as part of the national Jubilee celebrations.
Other events have already been arranged by Friends of Victoria Hall for this year, as the town welcomes the return of two craft fairs this year with the first scheduled for July and the second due to take place in November to incorporate into the town's Festival of Lights.
