£50,000 boost for park
HELENSBURGH'S Kidston Park will be re-vamped with a new play area.
Area Committee councillors took the unanimous decision when they met today (Friday).
They earmarked the £50,000 - held by Argyll and Bute in respect of mitigation for the Cumberland Avenue development - to be used first for the project.
Councillor James Robb said: "This would allow existing council budget to be used for essential refurbishment of the car park, measures to stop anti-social behaviour such as traffic calming and CCTV and a pedestrian crossing; as an alternative to the suggested new roof on the band stand.
"This additional £50,000 would only become available if the developer fails to deliver the band stand roof as required or chooses to let it revert to the council for play equipment under the [existing] agreement."
* Councillor Vivien Dance declared an interested and did not vote on the item
