Olympic yachtsman Luke Patience breezed into Rhu Primary School for a visit recently. Luke, a former pupil, enthralled the whole school with his inspiring talk, which covered his early sailing days off Rhu, to his success at the 2012 London Olympics. He described how as a primary six pupil at Rhu he was amazed by the Olympic Games and then set his sights on achieving his own Olympic dream. Luke described a typical training day, and how important a healthy diet is to his sailing success.
Pupils were delighted to get a very close look at and to touch his Olympic silver medal and many couldn't believe how heavy it was!
Luke was returning to his training the following day and all of Rhu Primary School wish him the very best of luck and will be supporting him all the way to Rio 2016.
