A ZOMBIE night run took place in Helensburgh last weekend with 150 entrants from as far away as Newcaslte and Inverness running through the woods and hills of Helensburgh.

Half of the participants were dressed as zombies with the other half dressed as survivors — the survivors were given a five minute head start before the zombies were released to chase them.

The race started at 6pm at Helensburgh Rugby club and the course was eight km through the woods, mud, water and forest up on the hills behind Duchess Woods in the dark. Stewart Tacchi, one of the organisers said: “Despite torrential rain the event was a great success, have a look at the feedback on our facebook page ‘Zombie Night Run’ and has really helped to put Helensburgh on the trail running map.

“We’d like thank all our runners, our amazing volunteer marshals, who stood in the rain and darkness encouraging the runners and making sure that no one got lost.

“Additional thanks to Friends of Duchess Woods, Luss Estates and The Three Lochs Way for their support. We are already looking forward to next years event.”
