Despite nerves before the launch event, Jennifer Robertson soon brushed off her worries after being ‘flattered’ by encouraging responses to her show at Glasgow’s 13th Note.

The 30-year-old will continue to display her 12 colourful drawings of fantasy animals until this weekend.

Following a ‘fairly nerve-racking’ opening night on Monday, August 4, she relaxed as the venue began to fill with visitors.

The former Hermitage Academy pupil added: “The images comprise everything from an Oriental-style fish, to skeletal dragons, to wolves and two headed mythical creatures, so it’s quite diverse but with a distinctive bold style tying the pieces together.

“I was especially glad to have had a chance to include some beautiful, gold antique-style frames which I have been waiting to use for quite some time, and to bring to fruition some ideas for images which are personally very meaningful to me. To realise goals is always a satisfying experience.

“For people to remark that they felt my work is original, vibrant and intriguing, and for people to recognise the level of effort that goes into each piece, means so much to me.” Jennifer thanked friend and local musician David Spence, who performed original songs on the night, to add to the creative atmosphere.

She also praised the attendance of local artists for their support and fellow artist Andy Peutherer for his assistance with hanging and print making.

She added: “Overall I think the gamble of organising, promoting and running a solo exhibition was a most worthwhile endeavour and I hope to present more in the future.” The exhibition runs until Sunday, August 17, in The 13th Note at 50 – 60 King Street in Glasgow.
