Daniel Moonen, 37, completed the first stage of the John Muir Way to Balloch last Thursday, August 28. Once he has completed the trail he will then tackle the Berwickshire Coastal Path to Berwick-Upon-Tweed, with an aim of finished his journey in two weeks.

Daniel, who moved to Montrose from Holland more than eight years ago, aims to raise about £500 for the Scottish Wildlife Trust educational programme at Montrose Basin Visitor Centre.

“I wanted to raise money for the education programme because they are an important way to reach out to youngsters and wildlife is also something I am passionate about,” he said.

“I would like to invite people to join me along the route and also to encourage people to make use of the new John Muir Way.
