The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the animals were dumped in a car park in the village.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Tuesday, September 9 after a member of the public discovered the felines inside a large pet carrier at Luss beach.

The two female cats and six kittens are now in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s Dunbartonshire and West of Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Milton.

Inspector Jennifer Connolly said: “The two cats are both around a year and a half old and are possibly related. The kittens, four males and two females, are all around six weeks old and are feeding from the adult cats.

“Luss beach is a popular tourist spot and whoever has left them would have assumed they would be found.

“However it is still an offence to abandon an animal and we are appealing to anyone who recognises the cats and kittens to come forward.

“We’ll continue to look after them until we can find them all loving new homes.” Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
