The project, which aims to restore the town’s beach, recently gained a seal mascot (pictured), however he is currently nameless, and youngsters in the area have been asked to help come up with a title for the sea creature.
The group are also holding a presentation in the main hall of The Tower, Sinclair Street, on Sunday, November 23 at 1pm.
Ian MacQuire, founder of HSDP, said: “The HSDP would like to invite all of the businesses in the town to attend – especially those with premises on Clyde Street as they are affected most by the West Bay weather and visitor numbers – as well as all residents in town.
“We need the communities backing, and have to show we have this backing for many funding applications for grants, if we can’t show we have the support of the community then we won’t get the grant funding.” To enter children must provide a name for the mascot, as well as their own name; age; primary school; and class.
Entries can be handed in to the AVA office in Colquhoun Square, Helensburgh. Closing date for entries is Friday, December 5.
