POSTERS of a missing Cardonald man who disappeared nine years ago will be displayed on digital billboards.

The UK's leading charity for missing people will use their digital billboard spaces to appeal for information on the whereabouts of David Findlay.

The Evening Times has ran an appeal for Mr Findlay every year since he vanished thanks to his daughter Linda who constantly campaigns to keep his case in the spotlight.

Now Missing People say they plan to put an appeal for information on the whereabouts of Mr Findlay on their digital billboards and through a column in the magazine The Big Issue.

The digital billboards are located across the city including at Glasgow Subway stations and beyond.

Missing People publicity coordinator Ian Roullier said: “Our thoughts are with David’s family around the time of the ninth anniversary of his disappearance.

"We are making a renewed publicity appeal for David throughout the region.

"David, if you are reading this, please call or text us in confidence on our free phone number, 116 000 to let us know you are ok.

"We can’t trace your call. We just want to provide you with the support you need and help you to be safe.”

Mr Findlay left his Cardonald home at around 3pm on Monday, May 5, 2008 – and no one has seen or heard from him since.

Police say the last confirmed sighting of David was around 6pm on Sauchiehall Street at West Nile Street on the day he went missing.

Officers also followed up a number of unconfirmed sightings in Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Milngavie, Kirkintilloch, Shettleston and Kilsyth but all attempts to locate David have proved unsuccessful.

He was also diagnosed with the early onset of dementia the Christmas before he went missing.

It is believed Mr Findlay went for a walk on the day he went missing.

We previously reported that his heartbroken daughter Linda had become a grandmother herself to grandson Olly James Campbell and was keen for her father to meet the family's new addition.

She said: "I am still hopeful. I will keep it going until I get closure one way or another.”

Last year, The Evening Times asked Police Scotland for CCTV images of Mr Findlay which are believed to be the last time he was seen.

We published the pictures of Mr Findlay, who was 69 when he went missing, in Morrisons Cardonald.

Linda says the CCTV prompted no leads but was assured by Police Scotland that her father’s case is still be investigated.

The grandfather-of-five is 5ft 4 inches, of medium build and he had grey receding hair.

He was last seen wearing gold-rimmed glasses, grey trousers, a brown suede jacket, a grey jumper with white and red stripes, and black shoes.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of David Findlay is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
