SO FAR, I have read over 500 of the 1200 comments submitted to the planners about the wind farm proposed for Cove. Interestingly, the majority of those in favour make mention, not of the benefits of "green energy", but of "Wind Farm Gold" - MONEY. But can we be certain the funds that have apparently influenced people's views will materialise? At the moment we can't; the Trust themselves have said that they HOPE to generate the money; hope is an aspiration, not a certainty.
And, they won't let us know how they HOPE to do it either. Numerous requests to the Trust for the details of their financial plan have been refused and this is despite the fact the Trust's application has been paid for with 250,000 of grants (public money) and furthermore that the proposed wind farm at Helensburgh have already published their financial details.
This situation, that a community is making choices about a multi-million pound life -changing project on the basis of what the Trust HOPE for, but refused to substantiate, is unacceptable. I have therefore set up an email address where people can register a vote, asking the Trust for their financial information, I will then collate the votes (numbers, not names) and approach the Trust again.
