I hadn't appreciated fully just how cosmopolitan this area is. In the past week I have heard so many different accents in the town and certainly in the charity shop I volunteer in there has been quite a range of customers from all over the world, some short term residents and some visitors. I have been educated on so many different subjects just by having a chat and the overwhelming view by them is that Helensburgh and the surrounding area is not only an interesting place to live, the people are warm and welcoming. Who says it's boring? I wonder how many people in Helensburgh have noticed the stone cat perched above the old police station. I had it pointed out to me months ago and take great delight in showing visitors and children. I do wonder what the history is behind it. Is it a cat burglar? Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I have had it confirmed that the Heroes Centre Open Days are May 4 and 5. I do hope people pop in to see how far ahead the project is. I think folk will be amazed and excited. I know people have struggled, because of the weather, to get into their gardens and only now are they able to get a bit of work done. I also know there are several older people in the area who need help with their gardens. If you feel you can spare the time volunteers are always needed, if you can pop into Argyll Voluntary Action and let them know. They are getting gardening teams together to help out and would, I know, appreciate extra hands.

Don't forget if you want to thank someone or praise someone for their work in the community or even for a personal kind act you can give them a mention here. Drop the details in to Argyll Voluntary Action office in Colquhoun Square marked with my name.
