West of Scotland AFL Division One Broomhill SC.............................. 1 Helensburgh FC......................... 3 AFTER some lethargic performances the Burgh team finally managed to get themselves together to record their second away win of the season.

The Burgh lads took the game to their hosts right from the kick off and won a corner from which Alan Birnie's header flew just over the bar.

They dominated the game from then on with the home team dependent on hoofing long balls to their strikers which were easily picked off by Clark and McNeil in defence.

Helensburgh came closest to scoring many times the nearest being when a drive from Gemmell was pushed round the post by the Broomhill keeper.

Numerous other chances fell to Birnie and the industrious Sinclair but the final effort on goal proved to be disappointing.

As the first half came to a close the home team nearly sprung a surprise and only smart goalkeeping by Kearney prevented them from taking a shock lead.
