HELENSBURGH Netball Club's second team started their season last week with a 52-27 defeat to Broomhill.

Helensburgh has a team in Division 2 and another in the Third Division this season and hold out hopes of retaining these places over the year.

On Wednesday the Twos were up against Broomhill and started strongly as Helensburgh displayed some nice shooting combinations.

Kirsty, Kelly and Carly worked the ball nicely around and into the D, reading each other well.

The defence put up a good fight against a fast Broomhill side with mid-court working well to help transition the ball back to the attackers.

However it wasn't Helensburgh's 2's night but with the possibility of half points in the last quarter Helensburgh worked well managing to sink a final goal in the dying seconds to take the final score to 27-52.

Player of the match was awarded to Carly Park for her work in and around the circle and her effort in mid-court helping transition the ball up the court well.

Following this match Louise Mundie made her first appearance as umpire in the GNA League.
