Helensburgh Curling Club are back in action on the ice at Braehead after the summer lay-off.

There are several new skips and with reorganised rinks there should be some exciting and evenly matched games ahead.

The season's first competition is for the Bob Ralph Quaich.

We are not yet halfway through the round robin stage with 14 rinks divided into two sections.

Section 1 is being led by veteran curler Adam Clark who has had two good wins over Ronnie Morrison and Jonathon Clinch.

George Kerr, a new skip this season, narrowly leads Section 2 with Alan Davie close behind.

By way of light relief the members enjoyed a trip to the very fine ice at Stirling for the Autumn Bonspiel, where the emphasis was on camaraderie.

That did not stop some keen competition amongst the six teams.

The winning team would be decided by the number of shots up over the eight ends.

Two teams ended up with the same score in which case it depended on the number of ends won.

It was still tied so on to the overall number of shots won by each side and again there was no way to separate the two leading teams.

An honourable draw was declared, perhaps a first in the history of the club.

The two winning teams were photographed after a convivial supper.
