A CELEBRATION of Helensburgh tennis hero Gordon Reid's achievements will be held in the town this weekend - and the man himself will be the guest of honour.

Helensburgh Tennis Club, where Gordon is still a member, will host the event on Sunday, November 20 to recognise his outstanding year and his contribution to wheelchair tennis.

Gordon's incredible 2016 began with victory in the Australian Open, and his success continued when he won the men's singles and doubles titles at Wimbledon in July.

But the best was yet to come as he won a gold and silver medal at the Paralympics in Rio and rose to number one in the men's world rankings.

Gordon's family, coach and club members have all been invited to attend Sunday's celebration, and several presentations will be made to him on the day.

The club has also painted a post box and two large plant pots gold in recognition of his Paralympic achievements.
