The Hermitage Academy Under-15 hockey team progressed to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 home victory over Gordonstoun.

This was the team’s first competitive match and they came up against a very physical and technical team from the Highlands.

h Hermitage went close early on through Dani Dooley and Douglas King.

Gordonstoun came back into the game, however, some brave defending from Andrew MacAulay kept the Helensburgh outfit in the game.

Hermitage broke the deadlock at the end of the first half with a finely t goal from l Dooley . Gordonstoun, however, hit back straight away

A rousing half-time team talk rallied the boys and the hosts came out rejuvenated at the start of the second half.

Some great attacking play in midfield from man of the match Drew McCann was complimented with strong defending from Robert Whittick as Hermitage pushed for the winner.

A scrappy incident in the Gordonstoun shooting D saw the ball break to Jack Clemmet, who pushed the ball clinically into the back of the Gordonstoun net and put Hermitage into the next round..

The Hermitage Academy U18s hockey team travelled to Forgandenny to play Strathallan School and advanced in the cup with a 3-1 win.

Hermitage had the majority of possession in the first 10 minutes. They were awarded a penalty flick at the end of the first half for a foul in the D and Gregor Chambers flicked the ball into the top right-hand corner to put Hermitage one ahead.

Strathallan hit back instantly and a well-worked penalty corner saw them go into the break 1-1.

Mr Irvine along with coach Fraser Ward made a couple of half-time changes and reaped the rewards when a well-executed penalty corner saw Matt Appelquist drive the ball into the left-hand corner of the goal to put Hermitage 2-1 ahead.

Strathallan then piled on the pressure and some brave defending from Callum Rosie, Hamish Johnson, Kieran Johnson and man of the match Jake Gumbrell kept the Helensburgh school one goal ahead.

A breakaway from Hermitage saw Cameron Dye through on goal and he was upended as he was about to shoot resulting in a Strathallan defender being ordered from the field of play.

Appelquist made the score 3-1 from the penalty spot and sent Hermitage into the quarter-final to play Glenalmond
