HELENSBURGH'S wheelchair tennis hero Gordon Reid will formally receive the freedom of Argyll and Bute in the town this week.
A special meeting of the local council will confer the honour at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre on Wednesday, December 7 at 4.30pm.
Gordon's family and friends are expected to be present at the event – to be held in the same building which Gordon himself officially opened earlier this year.
Members of Argyll and Bute Council approved the award in September on the recommendation of councillors in Helensburgh and Lomond, following Gordon's triumph in Rio, when he won gold in the men's singles and silver in the doubles.
His Paralympic triumph followed victory in the first ever men's singles tournament at Wimbledon in July and at the Australian Open in January.
Gordon will also finish 2016 at the top of the men's wheelchair tennis world rankings, despite losing to Joachim Gerard of Belgium in the final of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters in London on Sunday.
