Lomond School’s Open B Netball team secured a 36–31 victory in their recent second-round Scottish Schools Cup match against St Thomas Aquinas Senior School.

Lomond started well, connecting through the court and making a success of every opportunity to score.

By the end of the first quarter, the team had a strong lead of 14–7 against the opposition.

This determined playing continued through the second quarter with some outstanding shooting from Rosie Green and Holly Walker, with Charlotte Caskie and Wallis Jamieson linking well from defence to attack.

Going into the second half, position changes took time to bed in, but the team soon got back on track, holding their lead.

Ellie Summers, Caitlin Rowan and Jasmin Wells worked well together in defence and in bringing the ball up the court.

In the tense final quarter, Lomond fought hard, each person playing to their best ability.

The result was a well-earned win and a place in the third round of the Scottish Schools Cup.

Rosie Green was awarded player of the match for her outstanding shooting and consistently determined approach throughout the match.

Johanna Urquhart, Principal of Lomond School, said: “I am absolutely delighted for our netball team on their thoroughly deserved win.

"They have trained exceptionally hard and this win is the fruit of their fantastic efforts.

"As a team, our Open B players work really well together, and I look forward to seeing them in action in the next round of the Cup.”
