John Laverty’s rink achieved the Curlers' Holy Grail at the David Duncan inter-club competition at Braehead on Burns Night with all eight stones in the head.
Helensburgh Curling Club's second rink achieved the feat in a win against Cathcart Castle, seeing the team through to the last four and the playoffs.
Helensburgh's first rink weren’t quite so fortunate and – despite a tightly fought game – they were eliminated at the round robin stage.
All was not plain sailing for Team Laverty. The eight-shot end was the only end that they won – and the match was nominally peeled at 8 each.
The saving grace was that Cathcart turned up one player short and incurred five penalty points.
