Gordon Reid made a winning start to the ABN-AMRO Tournament in Rotterdam after partnering Tom Egberink to reach the doubles semi-finals on Tuesday.

Helensburgh's Reid and Egberink defeated Spain’s Daniel Caverzaschi and Martin de la Puente 6-0, 6-4 to guarantee that a Brit will be in the doubles final later in the week.

As Reid aims for back-to-back doubles titles following his latest Grand Slam doubles victory at the Australian Open, he and Egberink will now meet Australian Open runners-up Alfie Hewett and Gustavo Fernandez in the semi-finals.

Hewett will be the first of the two Brits to begin his singles challenge on Wednesday evening, when he takes on Takuya Miki of Japan. Victory for Hewett would set up an all-Brit quarter-final against Reid.

World number three Reid arrived in Rotterdam as the reigning men’s singles champion and is second seed.

He has a bye through to the last eight and will start his singles campaign on Thursday against Miki or Hewett.

Should Reid come through his quarter-final he will likely face a difficult task in the semi-final with Argentinian third-seed Gustavo Fernandez favoured to come through his quarter final against an unseeded player.

French duo Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer, first and second seed respectively are in the other side of the draw and would be the probable final opponents for Reid should he make it.
