A HIGH-SCORING Scottish Schools Cup third round match saw Lomond School fall to a single-point defeat to Hyndland.

Lomond School’s Senior Open A netball team took on an experienced Hyndland team in a nail-biting match last Wednesday.

Playing in the third round of the Scottish Schools Cup, the team started strongly, connecting well through Katherine Walker and Mackenzie Serpell through the middle of the court and converting their chances at goal effectively.

This pattern continued through the second quarter, the score staying even as a result of Cara Cawley’s and Cara Malcolm’s shooting.

The third quarter ended in a draw, helped by Rona Wilson’s strong defence and conversion.

The final quarter was incredibly tense and saw Lomond pipped to the post, losing 51–50.

Lomond did extremely well against a side which boasted three players in the national team.

It was without doubt Lomond Senior Open A’s standout game of the year so far with every player putting on strong individual performances.

Gryffe 15

Meanwhile there was better news for Lomond’s Open B team who prevailed in their Scottish Schools Cup tie.

The Open B team took on Gryffe last Thursday in the third round of the Scottish Schools Cup.

The first quarter saw Charlotte Caskie commanding the centre court and Molly Keating moving well in the circle, this allowed

Lomond to take a small lead into the second period.

Moving through the second and third quarters, Lomond solidified the lead, going from strength to strength.

Caitlin Rowan and Ellie Summers were picking up plenty of many interceptions in defence and Morven Rowan was proving reliable at the other end of

the court by converting lots of chances.

In the final quarter, the team furthered its lead even more through Rosie Green’s shooting, ending with a strong result of 34–15.

Rosie Green was awarded player of the match for her consistency in converting Lomond’s efforts into goals.
