Rhu Amateurs got back to winning ways on Saturday and despite a poor first half they took control after the break and ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Weirs Rec..
With Rhu’s pitch unplayable the game was switched to Hermitage Academy.
Rhu started better, putting pressure on Weirs defence but were unable to create any clear chances.
As the half progressed Weirs were becoming more confident and Rhu’s passes were beginning to go astray.
Two bad pass backs to Grindlay almost gave Weirs the opener but with 10 minutes of the half left Weirs did go ahead when their striker was given too much room and he made no mistake.
It had been a poor first half for Rhu as the visitors went in ahead.
Rhu came out with all guns blazing and it took only 10 minutes for the hosts to get level. A break on the right and a perfect cross by Connor Alden was calmly passed into the net at the back post by Graeme McCallum.
It was Rhu on top now and it wasn’t long before they were ahead.
Sean Mitchell won the ball in the midfield and played Adam McCulloch through on goal. It looked as if he had taken it too wide but a stunning shot from a tight angle found the roof of the net, Weird were struggling now and five minutes later it was 3-1.
