HELENSBURGH Amateur Athletics Club returned to the Emirates Arena in Glasgow for the finals of the Scottish Athletics Indoor League and ended the indoor season in style.

With only the U11 boys qualifying for the main event the team got off to a flying start on Sunday, May 26, with Alex Brown winning his 60m in an event record time of 8.84s.

That was followed in the second race by Ewan McCartney being pipped in to second place in a time of 9.53s.

Matthew Gall and Gethin Davies were next up in the 600m race. In a race which saw the event record being broken twice in five minutes in a strong field the HAAC boys clocked times of 2:03.9 for Matthew and a PB of 2:04.2 for Gethin, finishing sixth in each of their races. The final event of the day was the standing long jump with the sprint duo of Alex and Ewan back in action. Solid performances saw Alex finish second in his group and Ewan third in his group. With all the scores combined the U11s Boys team finished in a fantastic bronze medal position.

A 4x200m relay competition also takes place. HAAC had a great turnout for this

The U11 Boys team showed their form and as well as competing in their other events also managed to qualify second in their relay heats and progress to the finals later in the day. The four boys ran hard in the 4x200m final to secure their second bronze of the day

Other notable performances of the day came from the U13 boys relay team of Lewis Tokeley, Logan Moffat, Robert Court and Johnny Brown who narrowly missed out on a top six place in the final. And the U15 Boys Relay team of Josh Bain, Chris Wilson, Charlie Fowler and Alistair McCartney who came eighth overall.
