Helensburgh Tennis Club recently welcomed new coach Jo Kerr, a level four coach who moved to the town from Aberdeen with her young family.

Jo said: “I’m delighted to be coaching juniors as well as the adult beginners and adult improver classes. The club has a vibrant morning section and I hope to be able to lend my skills and improve their game”.

As a junior she played for the North of Scotland Junior County team and coached at Westburn Tennis Centre and Cults Tennis Club in Aberdeen. Jo has also coached in Botswana.

During her time in Aberdeen, Jo worked closely with their Active Schools service and hopes to do the same in Helensburgh.

The club’s junior convenor Bobby Kerr said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jo to our team alongside John Wilson, Chris Bowman and 17-year-old Ross Hamilton who is currently attending his level two course.

“Jo’s experience will allow us to deliver more high-quality tennis coaching to residents.”

Chris Bowman from CBF Tennis, which provides tennis services to Helensburgh and Craighelen said: “Jo is a great addition to our team and we look forward to increasing our programmes for both juniors and adults.”

The club is currently looking at its long-term development plan to increase the amount of tennis played in Helensburgh.
